We’ve assembled an amazing group of yoginis for the Women’s Panel on Friday, August 2, 2013. The panel discussion will be led by a moderator to help organize the questions and cover a wide variety of topics for an interesting and engaging discussion. Please prepare your questions and drop them in the Panel Q&A Bowl (PURE Bikram Yoga Booth, Canyons Room) any time after your arrival.
Questions must be provided BEFORE the start of the Panel –– by noon on Friday.
In addition to Rajashree Choudhury and Emmy Cleaves, the Women’s Panel will include:
Dr. Lisa Ellis
Dr. Lisa Ellis graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in 1989. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Disease Fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Ellis served on the Clinical Infectious Disease faculty at Oregon Health Sciences University 1995-1997. She and her family relocated to Austin in 1997, where she joined a private practice group. She continues to practice clinical infectious disease in adults.
Dr. Ellis began her yoga practice in 2004, shortly after the original Bikram Yoga Davenport studio at Westlake opened. She continues to see the benefits of Bikram yoga, and often recommends yoga to her patients.
Mary Jarvis is from San Francisco, California. She has been practicing/teaching Bikram Yoga for 30 years. In the early 1990’s she used this yoga to avoid spine surgeries and recover from a serious car accident. The experience gave her the opportunity to teach herself about pain and recovery from illness and severe body injuries and limitations. It is her primary focus as a Yoga Teacher.
Mary serves as Head Coach of USA Yoga and International Yoga Federation. She has trained and coached 8 International World Champions and hundreds of National and Regional Yoga Asana Champions. She is excited to one day have the Yoga Championships in the Olympics! There are now over 70 Yoga Schools in the world that started yoga with her at her school in San Francisco.
She is honored and excited to be of service, here, in Austin this weekend!
